Situated just south of the Inner Harbor, Federal Hill is one of Baltimore's oldest neighborhoods, first given its name in 1788 during a parade to celebrate Maryland's ratification of the US Constitution.

The eponymous hill, pictured above, gives you a great view of the Inner Harbor and downtown Baltimore. It is just a short walk to the museums and attractions of the Harbor, but if you turn the other way and head south, you will find one of Baltimore's most exciting and active neighborhoods.
The American Visionary Art Museum offers a unique museum experience--featuring a rotating collection of works from self-taught artists across many different themes, this museum is a much different beast than other museums in the area.
You can't visit Fed Hill without a stop to the Cross Street Market. First established in 1845 and recently renovated, this market offers a variety of food, drinks, and goods from local vendors.

Feeling blue? In Fed Hill, you can find the best breakfast in Baltimore at the Blue Moon Cafe, or great Mexican food and drinks at Blue Agave.
In the heart of the neighborhood is one of Baltimore's best sports bars, Mother's Grille. Another great neighborhood bar with a variety of beers and great pizza is Pub Dog.

If you're looking for something a bit more upscale, you won't be disappointed by the craft cocktails at the Bookmakers Cocktail Club. Or for a completely unique experience, head over to Illusions, a bar and theater with regular magic shows!
