Santa Con Dudes

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, it’s the holiday season in Maryland! The days are getting shorter, the cold winds of winter have blown away the last vestiges of autumn right off the tree. Break out the puffy vests and wool socks, and experience what this great state has to offer during the holidays!

The Mayor’s Annual Christmas Parade
December 2nd, 1:00 PM

The holiday season kicks off with a real deal Baltimore Tradition, the Mayor’s Christmas Parade in Hampden. Marching Bands, Dance Teams, Cool Cars, Cool Floats, Star Wars characters in holiday hats, Shriners in tiny cars, and hopefully another appearance from Underdog. It’s a day filled with fun and excitement, held in Baltimore’s most eclectic community.

This event promises “Stilt Walkers and Acrobats,” which is more than enough reason to attend anything. Not sold yet? A Christmas Bonfire and sing-a-long? A concert on the Courthouse Steps? Special Equestrian Events? The Bel Air Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting is a special time of year, so bundle up and get ready for a full day of excitement, leading to Mr. and Mrs. Claus lighting up the Christmas Tree at the Town Hall!

Baltimore Chanukah Festival
December 2nd, 2:30
Mckeldin Square, Inner Harbor (MAP)

The Esther Ann Menorah, “tied for the largest Menorah in the world,” will light up at 4:45 to start the first day of Chanukah. There’ll be live music featuring Gobbie Cohn and the Zemer Orchestra, Jelly Doughnuts, food stands, a heated tent, and tons of fun activities for the kiddies before and after the lighting.

The 47th Annual Monument Lighting
December 6th, 5:00-8PM
The Washington Monument, 699 N Charles St, Baltimore, MD 21201 (MAP)

America’s first Washington Monument will be lit up for the holiday season starting at 8PM! Mount Vernon turns into a Christmas Village, with food, drinks, and a performance from the world famous Morgan State Choir. Stick around for the fireworks show after the lighting.

25th Annual Morgan State University Kwanzaa Celebration
December 1st, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

This all ages event rings in Kwanzaa with a bang! Morgan State presents their annual celebration with a mix of dance, performance, art, exhibits, storytelling and food, all centered around themes of unity and pride that Kwanzaa represents. The event is free, though it requires you to register a ticket on their eventbrite website.

Six Flags America Holidays in the Park

If your idea of the holiday season is riding the Ragin Cagun when it’s 30 degrees outside, Six Flags America has you covered. But there’s so much more to Holidays in the Park than amusement park rides. The park is only open on the weekends, but after December 26th the park is opened straight on to New Years.
