The weather is mighty chilly outside, but that shouldn't be an excuse to stay inside. There are plenty of fun activities happening around the state this weekend, so toss on your thermals and check out these cool events.

It’s a brand new year for the Retrievers, fresh off their stunning upset of the top ranked Virginia Cavaliers in the 2018 NCAA tournament. This weekend they tune up against Shenandoah University, a Division III team out of Winchester, Virginia. Come cheer on the Retrievers, as UMBC hopes to build on their success from their legendary 2017-2018 campaign!

Come see Maryland's hottest improv groups, dance troupes, actors, local artists at the Charm City Fringe Festival. A celebration of Baltimore's eclectic art scene, this two day event is filled to the brim with unique and cutting edge performances. This event also has shows and performances at MAP underground (218 West Saratoga St, Baltimore MD 21201) the Downtown Cultural Arts Center (401 N Howard St, Baltimore, MD 21201), the Marble Bar at the Congress (306 W Franklin Street, Baltimore, MD 21201), and the Mt. Unregistered Nurse Bookings presents the seventh annual U+NFest at Ottobar, featuring a variety of local, national, and international bands. This year features artists like Baltimore area Indie Rock stars Lower Dens, the 60’s inspired rock of Shannon and the Clams, and over a dozen other bands. There will also be movie screenings and a Save Your Soul themed dance party at the upstairs bar.

The Columbia Jazz Band presents a night of World War 2 era hits like White Cliffs of Dover, In the Mood, and Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy, and more! The Jazz Band will be accompanied by vintage newsreels projected above them while they play. There’ll be food, drinks, and dancing galore, just in time for Veterans Day.

This weekend marks the end for the Carroll County Corn Maze season, so gather up the kids and bundle up some sweaters for some family fun and activities. Almost 18 Acres of Carroll County’s locally grown plants, a straw maze, pumpkins, and Hayrides. Bring a flashlight if you’re coming after 7PM.
